My name is Marie-Ève, but most people call me Marie.
Art has always been a part of my life. In various forms, it has accompanied me for as long as I can remember: dance, writing, theater, decorating… creating has always been a way for me to express myself, to breathe, to unwind.
In the fall of 2020, following periods of anxiety, painting became a refuge. Without expectation. Without pressure. Almost instinctively.
What was meant to be an escape quickly became a true passion.
Abstract art, for me, is often a reflection of life. A fragile balance between softness and chaos, between movement and stillness.

An intuitive and free approach
My art is mainly expressed through acrylics, sometimes punctuated by delicate touches of pastels. I enjoy working with materials, playing with textures, details, and movement. Whether with a brush or a palette knife, each gesture is guided by intuition, never by control.
I create without overthinking—at least, I try to.
I let emotion take over, chaos settle in, and then slowly… balance forms.
Chaos is part of the process, just like in life. It exists, and we must learn to tame it, to compose with it… and quietly, calm returns.
And from this movement, from this transition between agitation and calm, something beautiful always emerges.
Like a work of art.
There are no rules.
There is no precise plan.
Only a dialogue between me and the canvas.

The softness of neutral tones
Shades of beige are central to my work.
They can be perceived as simple, even "flat."
But for me, they are the complete opposite.
They are warm.
They are soft.
They envelop.
They allow emotion to breathe, for the work to find its place without imposing its presence. They are colors that reassure, that soothe, that invite you to slow down.

Daily inspiration
My inspiration comes from everywhere. From the simple little things in life. From the changing colors of the seasons.
From a word, an emotion, a moment of anxiety… or calm.
I like to observe, to pause, to take the time to see the beauty around me. Often, a color becomes the starting point, the beginning of an encounter between me and the work to come.
